There are many ways today to make money. The most common and perhaps least exciting way is working for a living. You know, driving a taxi, selling clothes in a store, removing old and useless uteruses from women who no longer need them. Then there is the stock market which is a reliable place to keep your money so it can grow, but only if you are willing to keep it there for long periods of time. Other people speculate. They are called investors or speculators, and try and figure out which way the market or the foreign currency exchange rates are going. They are a bit like fortune tellers. Although this way of making money is notoriously unpredictable, it is by far the most fun.
